The ADP, working collaboratively with other aspen working groups and the Rocky Mountain Research Station, will design and implement an aspen management training program that provide opportunities for USFS and BLM resource managers to meet continuing education requirements.  Continuing education accreditation will be given though professional organizations (i.e. Society of Range Management and Society of American Foresters).

Managing Aspen in Fire Adapted Ecosystems: A Technical Report

This publication (and possible companion film) will present a detailed overview of aspen restoration case studies at the landscape-scale in the West. It will examine (1) the reintroduction of fire into aspen ecosystems, (2) mechanical treatments used to restore aspen communities, (3) range management practices implemented to improve rangeland, and (5) stakeholder involvement in management processes.

Aspen Delineation Project Website www.aspensite.org / Databases  and UC Davis Joint Venture Agreement

Project Web Site, www. aspensite.org, is a consolidated and centralized source of reference information dealing with the ecology and management of aspen communities.  The portal has pages dedicated to aspen research, management, bibliography, news reports, and synthesis of literature. A key to the progress of this effort is the UC Davis/USFS Joint Venture Agreement.  The ADP is collaborating with Dr Kenneth Tate to implement the agreement.

Aspen Ecology, Biodiversity, and Management in the Sierra Nevada: The Status of Knowledge

The Rocky Mountain Research Station announced the publication of a new General Technical Report (RMRS-GTR-178) The LTBMU and the Aspen Delineation Project (ADP) contracted with the RMRS to produce this synthesis of aspen literature as it relates to the Sierra Nevada. The authors of the publication are Wayne Shepperd, Paul Rogers, David Burton, and Dale Bartos.

Bibliography Aspen Annotated Bibliography The Aspen Delineation Project, through a grant from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation is creating and maintaining a web-based annotated aspen bibliography.

Aspen Initiative for BLM Rangelands Phase I

The twenty Bureau of Land Management FY2000/FY2006 projects funded through a BLM-Cooperative Initiative will restore and protect 400 acres of aspen habitat. Additional cooperators in the projects are the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and the Mule Deer Foundation
